CU stands for Currency Unit. A setting might define a custom currency system - CUs represent the base unit in that case. For example the “Cyberpunk” setting defines 1 CU as 1 Euro. “Fantasy” has gold, silver and copper coins, where 1 CU is 1 copper coin.
